RIELF MAP

How do we measures of sea levels?
An accurate measurement of sea level is very hard to pin down. But it is an important measurement for two main reasons:
  • By having an accurate sea level measurement, it is possible to measure the height of everything on land accurately. For example, calculating the height of Mt. Everest is complicated by sea-level measurement inaccuracies.
  • By knowing sea level, we can determine if the oceans are rising or falling over time. The concern is that global warming and other weather changes caused by man might be leading to an overall rise in sea level. If so, coastal cities are in big trouble.

The Intersection in New York City

The Intersection in New York City.

New York City is a wonderful place to both live and to visit. New York City's five boroughs span 301 square miles. That's big. According to the New York City Department of City Planning, New York City is home to 8,213,839 people. According to Mayor Bloomberg's office, an additional 44 million people visited New York City in 2006. That's a lot of people going to and fro. What New York City's 8 million people know, and the tourists quickly find out, is that despite its vast size, New York is a walking city. And even though most people are pedestrians, many still take to the street in vehicles. The mixture of pedestrians and motorists on busy New York city street unfortunately lead to many accidents.New York City is a wonderful place to both live and to visit. ¿What is the problem that people find the intersections?

I would agree that for foot traffic, it's probably the area known as Times Square (the intersection of 42nd St., Broadway and 7th Avenue.) A few months ago, the car traffic in this area was greatly reduced, turning an area of several city blocks into sort of a pedestrian mall.
For car traffic alone, it's a little harder to determine. I've got a link below to New York City's most dangerous intersections, but that's not necessarily the same thing.
Second link below is to some real-time traffic cams around New York City - includingColumbus Circle, which is a good guess for the busiest. But the busiest intersection's probably somewhere on this list.

¿Why is it an intersections dangerus?

New York City has more than eight million residents, and each year thousands are injured or killed inauto and truck accidents simply by crossing the street. That's why the city recently unveiled a new study that provided a list of more than 1,500 streets deemed dangerous and in need of upgrades.
According to the report, pedestrian deaths and injuries are caused by several factors, including speeding and failing to yield to persons crossing the street. In addition, numerous accidents were caused by inattentive drivers along streets and avenues with multiple lanes.

Holy week

In THE HOLY WEEK  people make a In Catholic tradition, the conclusion to the week is called the Easter Triduum (a triduum is a space of three days usually accompanying a church festival or holy days that are devoted to special prayer and observance). Some liturgical traditions, such as Lutherans, simply refer to "The Three Days."  The Easter Triduum begins Thursday evening of Holy Week with Eucharist and concludes with evening prayers Easter Sunday.

How do people in guatemala celebrate the holy week ?

t all starts when we are little. As Hispanics, we typically grow up practicing the Roman Catholic faith we inherited from the Spaniards. Holy Week is one of the top Hispanic celebrations engraved in our traditions that we treasure dearly.
Living in the U.S. and sending my little one to school made me realize how different are things here for Hispanics when it comes to religion. In Latin America we normally attend Catholic schools, private or public.

Super Mosaics

Mosaic
How to make a mosaic?

The indirect method of making a mosaic involves creating the mosaic 'upside down' onto of a sheet of brown paper. The tesserae are stuck face down onto gummed paper, which is then set in a bed of grout, flipped over and the paper can be washed away later when the mosaic has set.

For large scale works the indirect method is invaluable as it allows you to work on a mosaic away from the final site. This is particularly handy for the larger projects (e.g. carpet floors) or for mosaics that are difficult to access due to other objects or obstacles in the way. It is also a fantastic method to use if the mosaic needs to be broken into sections.
For example :

This method is easier than the indirect method as you get to see what you are putting down and can move tesserae around if you don't like it straight away.

You have to be quite fast when you are doing it this way as often the adhesive can set quite quickly and if you don't make the decision to move a piece immediately it will end up stuck there!

You can either butter each piece of tesserae with your chosen adhesive or you can put a small amount on the base surface (enough for around six pieces) where you can then put the tiles on top of the glue.

The direct method of making mosaics is ideal for your first mosaic as the tesserae are laid the 'right' way up so that the top of the tesserae becomes the surface. This technique is useful when the material used has a different appearance on the front and back faces.

Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo born in 1907 in in Coyoacán , México. She was Mexican painter.
Kahlo's life began and ended in Mexico City, in her home known as the Blue House. She gave her birth date as July 7, 1910, but her birth certificate shows July 6, 1907. Kahlo had allegedly wanted the year of her birth to coincide with the year of the beginning of the Mexican revolution so that her life would begin with the birth of modern Mexico. At age 6 years, Frida developed polio, which caused her right leg to appear much thinner than the other. It was to remain that way permanently.  Her work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous tradition, and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form. Mexican culture and Amerindian cultural tradition are important in her work, which has been sometimes characterized as Naïve art or folk art.
She died on July 13, 1954.
